Lori Taylor, MD, knew she was destined for a career in medicine at a young age. "I knew I wanted to be a doctor ever since I was in fifth grade," Dr. Taylor recounted. "Health and science always interested me. And family medicine was the logical choice; I grew up in a small town, and primary care was what I associated with being a doctor."
Keeping patients healthy is a top priority for Dr. Taylor. "I enjoy focusing on preventive care," she said. "I want to work with my patients to improve their health and look for ways to prevent disease. That can take time and understanding, so I really look to establish an ongoing relationship with each patient and to get to know them, not just their health history."
Dr. Taylor has earned NCQA certifications for both diabetes care and heart/stroke care. "It's important to manage these chronic diseases so my patients can lead as healthy lives as possible."
At home, Dr. Taylor is outnumbered as the only female in a house full of men. "My husband and I have three sons," she shared. "We love going to their sporting events and theatre productions, and we love going out to dinner and playing games with them."
