Unique childhood experiences led Susannah VanDyke to the medical field. "Growing up on a farm, I had many opportunities to take care of the animals, and by age 10 I was giving shots to all the animals on the farm," Susannah recounted. "I was always right next to the Vet whenever we had a sick animal, learning how to make them feel better.
"I also had terrible allergies as a kid and went to the only medical clinic in town twice a week for allergy shots," she continued. "I loved watching the nurses and doctors caring for their patients and I knew that was what I wanted to do when I grew up."
Family medicine was a logical choice for Susannah. "I enjoy taking care of patients of all ages and caring for the whole family," Susannah explained. "Often the medical condition of a spouse or child affects the whole family. I enjoy being able to teach and care for each member of the family as they learn to live with their medical condition."
Susannah's own family keeps her busy outside of work. "My husband, Scott, and I have two active sons who love swimming and playing soccer," she said. "We love having a big backyard to play, climb trees and run around with our dog, Chester."
